On July 23, 2008, IFG Chairman Oscar S. Garcia attended an FAA Safety Management System (SMS) seminar on behalf of the Latin American Aeronautics Association (www.ala.aero). ALA’s President, Ernesto Rois Mendez was represented by IFG at this safety sensitive event. ALA’s leading SMS and Total Resource Management (TRM) efforts in Latin American complement regulatory agencies’ mandates (ICAO) and are crucial to the operational safety in the region. ALA is the leading general, corporate and regional airline aviation association to enhance safety and security with an intense focus on the helicopter industry as well.

The event was hosted by George Guerra Dean of the Broward Community College Aviation Institute and led by FAA speaker Mr. Neal Norris. Dan Sullivan, President of the Greater Miami Aviation Association (www.gmaa.aero) and Miami Maintenance Management Council (www.mmmc.com) shared the event and reported to both associations.
